Murray Wu

As a child, I was deeply influenced by my father’s photography practice; watching him take pictures of magnificent sights was amazing to me. I was inspired to become a photographer myself, hoping to travel and camping, photographing in the wild. Ever since receiving a camera from him as a birthday present, I have been taking photos. I like seeing scenes become frozen and captured. This obsession of capturing images carried me through my four years at UVic. My primary focus is landscape photography. I want to chase the mark of time. All the blooming world, in the end, will rot and fade away… My goal is to express and share how beautiful these past moments were. I aim to highlight the beauty of each landscape I captured, from the raging burning sunset to stealthily standing wood logs. I wish those who view my work can be just as moved as I was when I encountered these magnificent scenes.
